What we collect

Only what you type. Nothing on this site profiles you, follows you between visits, or builds an advertising audience.

• The contact form — your name, email, phone, company if you give one, and what you tell us about the matter.
• The chat assistant — your name, email, phone and preferred contact method, taken before the conversation starts, plus the messages you send.
• Server logs — our host records the usual request data, including IP address, for security and reliability.

Cookies and tracking

This site loads two things from Google: a Google tag, which reports to Google Analytics and to Google Ads, and Google Tag Manager, a container the firm uses to load anything further. These set cookies on your device, record how the site is used, and share that with Google, including your IP address.

This is on when you arrive, and there is no banner asking first. Pageviews are counted, an advertisement you may have arrived from is matched to what you did next, and the signals Google uses for advertising audiences are enabled. We have chosen not to interrupt every visit with a consent dialogue, and to tell you plainly here instead.

You can turn all of it off, on this page, in one click. Your choice is stored on your own device, not on our servers, and it is honored on every later visit from the same browser.

Review your privacy choices to turn measurement and advertising signals off. Your browser settings also control cookies, and Google publishes its own opt-out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Nothing you send through the contact form or the chat assistant is passed to Google. When a form is submitted the site records that an inquiry happened and which categories you picked, never your name, your email, your phone number or anything you wrote about your matter.

The chat assistant keeps your conversation in your browser’s session storage so it survives moving between pages. It is held on your device only, is never sent anywhere else, is not readable by other sites, and is discarded when you close the tab. The New chat button in the panel clears it immediately.

Who else sees it

Your inquiry goes to the firm. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

• Cloudflare hosts this site and processes requests to it.
• Google receives site usage data through Google Tag Manager and the tools it loads.
• Anthropic processes chat messages so the assistant can reply. Send it the fact that you have a matter, not the confidential details of it.
• Google Fonts serves the typeface, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

How long we keep it

Inquiries are kept for as long as we may need them to respond to you and to meet the record-keeping obligations that apply to a law firm. Where we take you on as a client, your file is governed by our engagement agreement and by the North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct rather than by this policy.

Your choices

Write to david@dpslaw.com and ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do so unless we are required to keep it. Ask us to stop contacting you at any time and we will stop.

Sending us confidential information

Please do not send anything confidential through this site, and do not send documents about a matter, before we have agreed to act for you and confirmed there is no conflict. Contacting us does not create an attorney–client relationship, and information you send before one exists may not be privileged. See the disclaimer.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
